games this week and Cunney

PORTLAND, Ore. Patrik Elias Green Jersey . -- Deron Williams took a moment to snap a few photos of Brooklyn teammate Jason Collins at their shootaround in Portland. He couldnt help it: The NBAs first openly gay player was surrounded by a throng of cameras and microphones, and at least for the next week or so, Collins will be the face of the Nets wherever they go. The 7-footer was signed to a 10-day contract on Sunday. He played in a 108-102 victory over the Lakers that night, with two rebounds, five fouls and a steal in just under 11 minutes. Before Wednesday nights game against the Trail Blazers, Collins said he accepted the both the interest and scrutiny that has come with his return to the league. "Im back playing basketball, so of course Im enjoying this," he said. Collins quietly played seven minutes in the 124-80 loss to the Blazers on Wednesday night, entering after Nets coach Jason Kidd had pulled his starters in the fourth quarter and many of the fans had already headed for the exits. He attempted one field goal. After Portland, the Nets visit Denver, where the attention will become even more intense. The family of slain Wyoming college student Matthew Shepard is expected to make the drive for the game Thursday night against the Nuggets. Shepard was tortured and murdered in 1998 because he was gay. Collins wears his No. 98 jersey in Shepards honour. He wants to keep the details of any meeting with Judy Shepard to himself. "Obviously, its extremely special and Im very much looking forward to meeting them," he said. Collins wore the No. 98 with both the Boston Celtics and the Washington Wizards for Shepard even before coming out. The jersey wasnt yet ready for the game against the Lakers (he wore a spare jersey with his name hastily added), but he wore No. 98 against the Blazers. "We were very touched," Judy Shepard told the New York Daily News about the jersey. "For him to make that tribute to Matt was meaningful to us." The jersey was already the biggest seller of the day Tuesday on NBAStore.com, and the NBA said it was selling well again Wednesday. The league didnt provide the number of jerseys sold. For all the attention hes getting, Collins is not a distraction for the Nets, who are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, inside the playoff cutoff. "He understands how to play the game the right way, and we saw that in L.A.," Kidd said. Collins publicly announced he was gay last May, and he joins several other athletes to come out, including Robbie Roberts of Major League Soccers Los Angeles Galaxy, Brittney Griner of the WNBAs Phoenix Mercury, and NFL draft hopeful Michael Sam, an All-American defensive end who played at Missouri. Since coming out, Collins has become an advocate for LGBT rights. He was in Portland just last week, appearing before a group thats advocating to get a measure on the November ballot that would legalize gay marriage on Oregon. In 2004, voters passed a measure that amended the state constitution to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. Campaign organizers hope to make Oregon the first state to overturn a constitutional amendment that bans gay marriage. Collins said for now, however, he just wants to focus on the Nets. "There are only so many ways you can write the story or tell the story," he said, "and then it will just be about basketball." Tuomo Ruutu Jersey . Verstappen has been racing in the Formula 3 European Championship this year, winning eight of 27 races, and joined the Red Bull Junior Team this month. Toro Rosso, the sister team of Red Bull, said Monday that Verstappen will race alongside Daniil Kvyat in 2015, replacing Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne. Adam Henrique Jersey .C. -- Unable to get much lift off his sore right ankle, Bobcats centre Al Jefferson figured it was time to make an adjustment.MONTREAL - During a playoff drive, there are only so many opportunities you get to try and make up ground. For the Canadiens, Sunday nights game against the Devils was one of them, and they let it slip away. While its far from over, the playoff chase certainly is not any easier as a result.  Thanks to some help on the out-of-town scoreboard on Saturday night, the Habs had the opportunity to close to within four points of the Leafs for 8th in the Eastern Conference, but were stymied by Martin Brodeur and the Devils. As a result of a Jets win, the Habs remain six points back of both Toronto and Winnipeg, while four of the five teams in front of them hold at least one, if not two games in hand.  Following an off-ice soccer game and optional skate in Brossard, the players admitted that they dropped the ball, but were quick to focus on a Tuesday night home game against the Dallas Stars to try and keep their playoff hopes alive.  One thing the Canadiens do have going for them is a series of games against the teams they are chasing down the stretch. The Habs will face Washington, Tampa Bay and Toronto twice, while they have the Islanders one more time at home.  For a team that has gone on a 5-2-1 run over the last eight games, it provides some optimism. A key part to the recent success has been the improved power play, which has scored in six of the last eight games going 7-for-23 in that stretch, which is a 30.4% success rate.  Randy Cunneyworth, who has a 10-8-3 record as head coach since the start of the calendar year, says the success has come from quick puck movement and finding the right seams.  With the trade deadline looming, and Hal Gill already moved to Nashville, it is providing an interesting time for the team as they continue to battle down the stretch drive, while waiting to see who else might be moved out of town. Although, when asked about making personnel decisions based on what players might be here for the longer haul, he joked saying "I think Im more like a dog. I think in the present and whats important right now, I really do." While he didnt elaborate on which breed he might be, it certainly had the media playing a fun guessing game following his media conference.  Cunneyworth did say that Carey Price will get the lions share of work down the stretch and Peter Budajs game action will be based on the physical and mental rest off Price. Marek Zidlicky Devils Jersey.  Montreal must now start this week with the same fresh approach they did last weekend, and try to build on their momentum. They will hit the road for a Friday game in Washington before heading south to the Sunshine State for a pair of games against the Panthers and Lightning, with trade deadline day sandwiched in between. One of the concerns of trading Gill was a lost voice of leadership in the dressing room. While it is well documented how Gill was a mentor to P.K. Subban, he also was a steady voice to the team in the room; one that many players notice is gone.  In conversation with Yannick Weber, he noted that Josh Gorges has stepped up his leadership role, along with Erik Cole. He also mentioned that Ryan White has become a voice heard in the room more often since his return, yet despite the increased responsibility for all these players, there is still a void when it comes to telling jokes. The humour department has certainly become Nashvilles gain.   Meanwhile on the injury front, Petteri Nokelainen has rejoined practicing with the team and looks to be first back from sick bay. Travis Moen appears to have suffered a setback and his status heading into the trade deadline is uncertain. He will not be available for any games this week and Cunneyworth added "Moen is going to be a little bit longer".  Andrei Markov will join the Canadiens on the upcoming road trip. The plan is to ease him into non-contact practices. While there is still no timetable for his return, its a sign of progress to join the team and start working on drills again. It was at this point last time Markov had joined the team on their road trip to California, where he was pulled off the ice and had his knee scoped.  And finally, the Canadiens, as usual, were all class in their honouring of former Montreal Expo and Hall of Famer Gary Carter on Sunday. The sweaters in which the Habs wore during the warm-up will be autographed and auctioned off with the money going to the Gary Carter Foundation. The tribute to honour Carter was well done, but the finest element to top it all off, was to see Youppi! come out on the ice wearing his original Expos uniform; memories of a time gone by that still sits fresh in the hearts of many Montrealers.  Merci pour les souvenirs, Gary! You can follow me on Twitter @BartsByte cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys Cristian Higuita Jersey ' ' '
